A faster, smarter way to collect and drop off IT equipment.
We’re excited to announce the installation of our new IT SmartServe lockers - a new, convenient, and secure way for staff and students to collect or return IT equipment.
These smart lockers will be ready for use from Thursday 12 February, marking an important step in improving the way we deliver IT services across the organisation.
What is an IT SmartServe locker?
The IT SmartServe lockers are self‑service smart lockers designed to make receiving and returning IT kit easier than ever. Whether you need to pick up a laptop, drop off equipment for repair, or collect accessories, the lockers give you easy access at a time that suits you.
Why use the IT SmartServe lockers?
- More convenient - no need to wait for service desk opening hours - collect or drop off items when you’re available
- Improved speed and efficiency - once your kit is ready, it will be placed straight into a locker. You’ll receive a unique code and can collect it immediately
- Secure and confidential - each locker is allocated to a single user and accessed by a one‑time access code/QR code, ensuring your equipment is kept safe
- Perfect for hybrid working and varied timetables - whether you’re on campus or working flexibly, the lockers support your routine
- Frees up IT staff to support you better - by reducing face‑to‑face collections, our IT team can focus more time on resolving technical issues and improving turnaround times for everyone.
How it works
- Equipment may be requested by you or issued to you by IT Services as part of a support request, hardware order, repair, loan or replacement process
- Once your item is ready to be collected/dropped off, you’ll receive an email with your one‑time access code/QR code
- Visit the IT SmartServe lockers, enter your code, and the locker will open. (See a picture of the lockers so you know what you're looking for)
- Collect or drop off your kit—quick and easy!
Where are the lockers located?
The IT SmartServe lockers are located in:
- Talbot Campus, Sir Michael Cobham Library, Ground Floor
- Bournemouth Gateway Building, Ground Floor (near the lift)
- Studland House, Ground Floor kitchen (near the Union office).
We’re committed to enhancing the digital experience for all our staff and students. The introduction of IT SmartServe Lockers is another step toward delivering faster, more flexible and user‑friendly IT services.
