January can be a busy time for many students – you might be adjusting back into life in Bournemouth after the winter break, be busy studying ahead of any upcoming exams or working hard on assignments before a deadline.
During busy periods it is important that you take time for yourself so that you can stay relaxed, focused and perform at your best. The information below explores some of the activities you can get involved in over the coming weeks to help you unwind, find support and advice or look after your wellbeing.
Student Services halls roadshow
All BU students can meet with the Student Services Team in BU halls between 15 and 18 January. Staff will be on hand to answer your questions, share tips for studying for exams or give advice on preparing for assignment deadlines. Sweet treats will also be available.

Academic Skills Hub exam workshops
Throughout the year, the Library & Learning Services team and IT Learning Centre run a variety of workshops to develop your skills in areas you may feel weakest in; these include topics such as getting the most out of lectures, time management, Excel, understanding assignment briefs, critical thinking, academic writing and more.
Between Tuesday 9 January and Friday 12 January you can book onto sessions looking at revision and preparation for exams to help you feel ready for any upcoming exams:

- Revision and preparation for exams (Talbot) – Wednesday 10 January, 12pm – 1pm
- Revision and preparation for exams (Lansdowne) – Thursday 11 January, 1pm – 2pm
- Revision and preparation for exams (Talbot) – Friday 12 January, 1pm – 2pm

Library space and snacks
Both the Sir Michael Cobham Library at Talbot Campus and the Weston Library at Lansdowne Campus are open 24 hours a day for you to study and work in a quiet space. Please remember to bring your student ID card to access the space when required - you can check this on the BU website.
Between Monday 8 January and Friday 19 January light snacks will be available to those using the space to provide your brain a boost whilst you work. This will be available from 11am each day, on a first come first served basis.

Looking after your wellbeing
It's a really important time to look out for yourself and your friends. Find advice for managing exam stress and make sure that you know how to access a doctor, in case you need to.
