Experience a new country and culture during your BU degree by applying to the BU Study Exchange Programme for the 2025/26 academic year.
The BU Study Exchange Programme provides a fantastic opportunity to study abroad for a semester at one of our selected partner institutions during your second year of undergraduate study.
Our second call is now open and applications must be submitted by 1 September 2025. You can read more about the programme and available funding below.
Although study exchange usually takes place during your second year of undergraduate study, if you wish to study abroad during your placement year, final year, or at Master’s level, arrangements can be made on a case-by-case basis. Speak to your Programme Leader or Global Engagement Lead or Study Abroad Academic Coordinator to discuss your options.
As part of the application process, you must tell us why this experience will benefit you and why you’d be a great ambassador for Bournemouth University. We will also ask for evidence of your current academic performance.
How to apply
You can find out more about the BU Study Exchange Programme, discover which destinations are available for your course and complete the application form on the BU study abroad webpage.
Application deadline
Applications close at midnight on 15 September 2025 for study exchange opportunities taking place in semester two of the 2025/2026 academic year.
