Please note: Currently, only the Poole House OAC is open, from 8am-8pm Monday-Sunday, and you will need to book a PC in advance.
You can also book library PCs at both Talbot and Lansdowne Campuses.
The Open Access Centres (OACs) are large computer labs which are available for all BU students to use, open 7 days a week, all year round. You will need to book your space in advance via MyPC whatever time you want to use them. You can book these computers up to seven days in advance to allow you to plan your studies. The facilities have been arranged to support the safe use of the computers and printers with physical distancing measures in place, so capacity is limited at this time. Check out out more about the IT facilities, tools, services and support available at BU.
You will need your student ID card to access these rooms outside of usual working hours of 9am - 5pm.
There are two OAC’s, one at each campus - please note the capacity is currently reduced due to physical distancing measures:
- Talbot Campus: Poole House (PG22) with Windows PCs and Apple Macs
- Lansdowne Campus: Studland House (S115) with Windows PCs - please note this OAC is currently closed.
Each machine has the core BU applications, including Microsoft Office, the Adobe CC suite and SPSS, and can be used with either staff or student credentials. You can also use the AppsAnywhere portal, giving you access to software relevant to your course. There are also colour and black and white printers with scanners available at both locations.
