Overdue reminders - external and subscription members

Overdue reminders are normally sent by email.

You will be sent four reminders and the final reminder will include a charge for replacing the item. If you are still unable to return the overdue item (e.g. because it is lost or damaged), this charge will be payable.

Reserving books - subscription members only

As a subscription borrower, you can reserve items online via mySearch if all copies of the book you require are out on loan.

If you have provided us with an email address, we will email you when the book is ready for you to collect and we will hold the item for you for one week.

To notify us of a change of email or postal address, please contact us by phone or email, or speak to Help Zone staff when you next visit the library.

Privacy notice for all external members of BU Library Services

The library operates a library management system which processes your personal data for the purposes of managing print items that you take out on loan.

From time to time the Library & Learning Services team may need to contact you about services such as the loan, renewal, return, reservation and use of library resources. To contact you we will access information that you provided when you registered with the service.

Library enquiries, support requests and management of lost property left in the libraries are processed through the library’s front-line support, which can be accessed either through face-to-face contact with staff on campus or online. The data you give to the Library & Learning Services team will be used only to respond to your enquiry or request.
