Inter Library Loan requests for print items and Covid-secure measures:
Due to new lockdown restrictions the British Library is unable to supply books from its physical collections until further notice.
Requests for articles should remain unaffected. However, they may take longer than usual to arrive due to Covid-secure processes at the British Library, other lending institutions and at our own Library, where we have to quarantine all received items for 72 hours before we can contact you about collection.
Although we will do all we can to complete your request, an increasing number of institutions are unable to loan physical copies of books at this time, and in such cases your request will have to be cancelled.
We offer a request service called Inter Library Loans for items not held in our own print or electronic collections. It is mainly for staff and postgraduate students and for undergraduate students working on a major project or dissertation at Level 6 (Level H).
Requests may take between 1 and 6 weeks to arrive depending on time of year and whether there is a waiting list. Materials that are more difficult to locate may take longer than 6 weeks.
Requests for inter library loans will not be processed if you have any library books overdue or fines outstanding.
If you need any further guidance, please contact a member of the Inter Library Loans team.
