If you hold an Unconditional Firm (U/F) offer, an email inviting you to start your enrolment will be sent to the email address you've used throughout your application process. This email will be sent anytime from Tuesday 18 August 2026. You don’t need to do anything until you receive this email invitation.

Enrolment steps you must complete:

Step 1 – Set up MFA for BU systems and register online

We use Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to keep your personal information and our systems safe. This means that in addition to your username and password, you will need to have access to an additional authentication method (e.g. your smartphone) to login to BU systems.

You must set this up before you can complete any other enrolment steps. We recommend using the Microsoft Authenticator App as this is the easiest and most secure method of authentication, particularly for those joining us from outside the UK.

To set-up MFA you need to:

  • Go to office.com
  • Sign in with your BU student email address (e.g. [email protected]) and password
  • Follow the on-screen steps and enter your mobile number and a personal email address (not your BU one)
Next, go to My sign ins and:
  • Change your preferred method to the Microsoft Authenticator App
  • Click ‘Add sign-in method’, choose Authenticator App and follow the steps. This is the easiest and safest way to log into our systems. It also sets you up on our Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR) tool so you can reset your password if you ever forget it.

Need help with setting up MFA? Contact the IT Service Desk on +0044 (0)1202 965515 or UK freephone 0808 196 2332, or complete our login issue form.

Register online

Once you have set up MFA, you are ready to register online. This must be completed before the start of your course, which for most students is Monday 21 September 2026. However, it is best to complete this as early as possible so that you will have access to key information before you start.

Registration takes about 20 minutes and includes confirming your details are correct and telling us when you plan to arrive in Bournemouth and how you will be paying your tuition fee. You’ll also read and sign up to our 2025/26 version of the BU Student Agreement. More information about the Student Agreement can be found on our Important information webpage.

  • Login to myHub using the same login details you used during your BU application
    • Your username starts with a letter followed by some numbers, such as s1234567
    • Can’t remember your password? Use the reset link on the login page
    • Don’t know your username? Contact AskBU.
  • Once you’re logged in, click on ‘My registration’ in the pink navigation bar. You don’t need to complete the process in one go; save and return as and when you need to.

After you’ve completed your online registration, we’ll email you with instructions on what to do next and set up your access to key BU systems to support your learning.

Step 2 - Get to know our key systems and prepare for your course induction

Now that you’ve registered online, you can start to get to know the systems you will use to engage with your teaching team and your studies.

You’ll need to check the following systems regularly for announcements and information from your faculty and course teams. You will also receive news and other information to support your degree:

  • Brightspace: our online learning environment where you’ll find course information and messages from your teaching team
  • Your BU email: we’ll send important updates to this email address, so it’s good to start checking this often.

Step 3 – Upload key documents so that we can verify them

After you have registered online, you'll need to upload new supporting documents and/or verify any documents that you’ve already uploaded during your application – myHub will tell you exactly what’s needed. Please do this as soon as possible and before Monday 21 September so we can get everything ready for your arrival. You will need the following documents:

  • Proof of your identity: photo ID such as your passport or driving licence
  • Educational qualifications: original certificates for the qualifications required for your course (e.g. BTEC, A-Level, degree, English language qualification) and official translations if not originally in English
  • NHS or HPC professional course certificates: original Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate.

International students

There are also additional requirements for international students, which can only be fully completed in-person during Welcome Week.

If you require a visa to study in the UK, you will need to finalise your enrolment at our in-person international document check during the first week of your course. Starting your course won't be affected by this, as long as you complete the document check by Friday 25 September.

Please make sure to bring the following documents with you to the UK to complete this step in-person. You will need:

  • Your original passport (only your passport can be accepted as proof of identity)
  • Your student visa sticker (stamped by UK Immigration)
  • A UKVI share code. You'll need to set up a UKVI account to generate a UKVI code for your right to study (not work or rent)
  • Evidence of your entry to the UK (e.g. a boarding pass, flight ticket or flight booking confirmation)
  • Any previous UK visas and all other relevant immigration documents.

What will happen next?

Once your enrolment is complete, itll kick start processes related to student finances to ensure its ready for the start of term (if applicable - UK students only) and allow you to request a bank letter or confirmation of term dates letter to help you find part-time work or open a bank account (international students only).

We’ll also begin to prepare your student ID card for collection in your first week. You’ll use this card throughout your degree to access buildings on campus, borrow books and sit exams on your course. You can also use this to obtain council tax exemption and student status/confirmation of term dates letters.

Step 4 – Visit us during Welcome Week

Once your enrolment is complete, you’re all set to start your BU degree!

In your first week you will take part in course induction activities and visit us in person to collect your student ID card (UK students) and complete any international document checks (international students).

Explore our welcome webpages and download the BU welcome app to help you prepare for your time with us.

Please continue to check Brightspace and your new BU student email inbox to stay up to date on information about your course.
