In the first week of studying at BU you must collect your student ID card or get your international documents checked to complete your enrolment.

What you need to do this will depend on your course and faculty. You can check which faculty your course is in on the BU website.

Important additional requirements for international students:

If you require a visa to study in the UK, you will be asked to finalise your enrolment at an in-person international document check during the first week of your course at BU. Access to your course will not be affected by this as long as you enrol by Friday 31 January 2025. After this date, you will not be able to attend any sessions until you have been to see us and had your enrolment completed. More information will be shared with you when you go through your enrolment on myHub. Please make sure to bring the appropriate documents to your international document check, as these will be needed to evidence your immigration and finalise your enrolment at BU. You will need:

  • Your passport (only your passport can be accepted as proof of identity)
  • Your student visa sticker (stamped by UK Immigration)
  • Biometric Residence Permit (if you have one)
  • Any previous visas for the UK and all other relevant immigration documents
  • Before you come along to your enrolment session, please generate a share code for your right to study (not work or rent) so we can check this as you are enrolled.

Student ID card collection

Your student ID card contains key information about you and allows you to access several different systems around BU, including access to specific buildings on campus, printers and cycle facilities. You'll also need to use this as identification during exams on campus. When you collect your student ID card will depend on your course and faculty. You can check which faculty your course is in on the BU website.

What to do if you have a late start agreed with BU

If you have an agreed a late start date with us and will not arrive at BU until after 7 February, you will need to collect your student ID card and get your international documents checked at the enquiry desk at The Hub. This can be found on the ground floor of Poole House at Talbot Campus. You must complete these steps before the final late start date which was agreed and communicated to you by the International Admissions Team.

It’s essential that you visit us at The Hub as soon as you can to complete your international document check and enrolment, as you will not be able to start your timetabled teaching sessions until you have completed this.

It is important that you aim to arrive at BU time before the final start deadline, so that you will be able to attend classes from 9am on your agreed late start date as well as complete your document checks and enrolment step by your late start deadline.
