Andy Oakes studied BA (Hons) Communications, graduating in 1993.
He said, “It was a standard night at Dylan’s in October 1993 when I bumped into a beautiful girl with long, dark curly hair called Lydia. She was doing a PR degree and was on her work experience year but had come back to Bournemouth to see her tutors. There was an immediate spark (although she later admitted she hadn’t been wearing her glasses!)”
“We agreed to meet the next day (which I forgot about) and opened the door to her while watching an England Rugby match. She was undeterred and we went for dinner at Il Mondos in Charminster. I was totally smitten! Fast forward to 2022 and we’ve been married for 23 years, have two fantastic children and a PR agency which we manage together. Thanks Bournemouth!”
