Level 7 Senior Leader Apprenticeship

The level 7 Senior Leader Apprenticeship consists of four units:

• Strategic Management: You will learn the key concepts, methods and thinking used to develop and deliver effective business and marketing strategies that consider both profitability and responsible business practice.

• Leading & Managing Change: You will explore a range of contemporary issues and management challenges faced by organisations, both internally and through external influences, in increasingly complex, global, diverse and fast-changing stakeholder environments.

• Organizational Environment and Sustainability: You will examine the issues that impact sustainable business in order to develop strategic management to a high level in a global business context

• Financial decision making:  It will enrich your comprehension, techniques and proficiency in analysing and evaluating accounting and financial data and emphasizing their connections to organisational strategies

• Managing Organisational & Individual Performance: This unit aims will equip you with the methods, techniques, and skills to critically evaluate performance management practice and relevant performance metrics. It will develop your understanding of business intelligence and business analytics, and your ability to derive insights from a pool of data to inform effective decision-making.

• Shaping the Future of Work: The workplace is currently experiencing unprecedented change via influences such as digitalisation, machine learning, artificial intelligence, robotics alongside demographic changes and the emergence of new ways of working. Combined with the recognition that talent shortages are likely to be the new norm, these changes are also leading to a renewed interest in intrinsically human skills such as emotional intelligence. This unit will examine a variety of contemporary trends/issues disrupting and shaping our workplace, and evaluate the potential opportunities and challenges that organisations and their workforce may face in the future.

The Senior Leader standard outlines 46 knowledge, skills, and behaviours (KSBs) that apprentices are required to meet. Apprentices will have the opportunity to develop these KSBs and collect examples to demonstrate they have met the standard as part of their final assessment.

Apprentices will undertake course-based assignments as part of the Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration and the apprenticeship will culminate in an external End Point Assessment. This is assessed by an End Point Assessment organisation relating to the Assessment Plan consisting of a Portfolio of Evidence and a Strategic Business Plan and Presentation.

There is a government requirement that 20% of an apprentices’ working week is spent undertaking “off the job” training for the duration of the apprenticeship.

Therefore, apprentices should expect to spend around one day a week on their studies (averaged out across the year). Many of these hours are not fixed however, so apprentices will have some workplace flexibility.
