“My journey within the world of tumbling started at the age of four when I began training in artistic gymnastics, competing at an elite level throughout my career. In 2019, I qualified for the British Championships, where I finished 21st overall.

“In 2022, I made the decision to switch to tumbling, as it was my favourite discipline within gymnastics. Within just one year of tumbling specific training, I progressed and competed at an elite level. In 2023 I qualified for my first ever Tumbling British Championships, and in 2024 I participated in two tumbling competitions known as the Spring Series Events. The top 14 athletes from these events earned a spot at the British Championships, and I was proud to secure my place within this group.

“At the British Championships, I competed two tumble runs, in which both went well, and I also managed to accomplish a personal best score. I went on to qualify in the top 16 and achieved a position for the British Finals.

“My coach was really pleased with my performance as I achieved a personal best thanks to significant improvements in my technique, which we had been focusing on in training sessions leading up to the competition; this enables my score to have less deductions. Furthermore, qualifying for the finals was a massive achievement for the both of us as it represents all the hard work and determination put into my training, and shows the success of the support and guidance of my coach. My coach also took away points for how I can improve further in the future and continue to progress.

“I’ve managed to pursue my passion for tumbling alongside studying for my degree at BU. The staff at BU have been incredibly supportive and they ensured I had access to all the work and resources I missed while away competing, allowing me to stay up to date.

"Being able to train alongside studying gave me the opportunity to compete in the FIG National Qualifiers 1 tumbling competition in April 2025. I competed in the 17 - 21 category and this is the first of two competitions where the top 14 qualify through to the British championships/national age group competition later on in the year.

"I performed two new tumble runs with success and achieved a personal best in my overall score and execution. This performance earnt me 6th place out of 24 competitors. The top 16 from this competition also qualified through to the English Championships which will be in June 2025, where I'll be competing.

“In the future, I see myself working hard in training and upgrading my skills. This will allow me to achieve a higher starting difficulty value and therefore improve my chances of placing higher in competitions.”
