“When I was three years old, my older brother was given a trampoline and I was hooked from that point on. My parents saw how much I loved it and when I was four they signed me up for gymnastics at a local facility. Years later, I discovered my passion for trampolining at the centre, and slowly transitioned out of gymnastics to trampolining within a different facility and have loved it ever since.

“At the start of 2025, I was given the news that I’d been selected for the Senior Development programme at British Gymnastics. This is a performance squad that helps gymnasts train and compete at highest levels nationally and competing internationally. The squad is based in Shropshire and helps prepare us as elite gymnasts, but also for a life outside of gymnastics. At this stage, we’re able to enter major international events, like world-age championships.

“I feel so lucky to have been chosen to be a part of the GBR squad. I’ve put in so much effort, both on and off the trampoline and it’s lovely to see how this has been recognised. At this stage I aim to achieve my maximum potential and be recognised internationally.

“I’m really appreciative of the sport scholarship that I’ve been awarded whilst studying at BU. Through this opportunity, I’m able to achieve a dual career, with my studies and sport. I’ve learnt how to manage my time efficiently and the facilities that SportBU provide have provided – in terms of the coaching staff and equipment – have all been crucial terms of my competition training”.

Alex McGregor, Head of Performance Pathway commented on Jared’s success: “Jared’s selection onto the British Senior Development programme is a really exciting achievement for him and, what we hope, is a significant step on his journey in trampoline gymnastics.

“Our senior development programme is a select group of the most talented trampolinists in the country who will get the support from British Gymnastics coaches and staff to support them in achieving our goals. We hope this will eventually include representing Great Britain at Senior competitions and winning medals on the European, World and Olympic stage.”

SportBU’s High Performance Manager Martin Wells said: “This well-deserved recognition is testament to Jared’s dedication to chase his goals and dreams on the trampoline. Jared works hard to balance both his academic and sporting life and has created a really positive, inspiring atmosphere with the other trampolinists at BU.

“The relationship we’ve cultivated with Poole Gymnastics and their coaching team – and especially having Brian Camp overseeing aspects of the delivery – continues to make BU as a great place to both study and train.”
