  • Introducing BU’s 30 under 30 2021

Our 30 under 30 finalists for 2021 showcase of young talent from across the BU alumni community. This is the second year of our 30 under 30 competition, and once again we have been hugely impressed by the achievements of our graduates, demonstrated at an early stage in their careers. Congratulations to the final 30, who are not only great ambassadors for BU but also an inspiration for the next generation.

Frazer Anderson

Since graduating in 2016, Frazer has worked around the world teaching forensics and facilitating the launch of technology start-ups. 

Joseph Aquilina

Joseph is Head of Partnerships at LIGHTBLUE, where he leads business development, strategy and growth for the company’s Middle East and US operations. 

Alex Bamford

Alex has forged a career in film and television, recently working as Assistant Director on the Amazon Prime six-part anthology A Series of Light.

Abbie Barnes

Abbie developed a passion for clinical psychology during her undergraduate degree and has since forged a career in the field within the NHS. 

Zach Boakes

Having completed his degree last year, Zach has become the Project Manager and Research Co-ordinator of an Indonesian NGO which he co-founded in 2017.

Jess Bone

An award-winning undergraduate dissertation provided the springboard for Jess to take on a Research Assistant role within the EU-funded Marineff Project.

Sam Gisborne

Sam began his sports career as Academy Football Operations Assistant at Norwich City and is now Assistant Academy Manager at AFC Bournemouth.

Gemma Griffin

Within two years of graduating, Gemma has progressed from Junior IBM Associate to a Senior Technical Consultant with the organisation.

Aundre Jess

Aundre launched his career as a Software Test Consultant; developing automated testing tools for clients in the automotive, financial and technology industries. He now works for Twitter.

Dingile Kasote

Since graduating, Dingile has worked with some of the biggest names in the media and is now a Press Officer for the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA).

Laura Martin

As Communications and Programme Manager for Ukie’s Digital Schoolhouse, Laura engages schoolchildren in learning about computer science through immersive events.

Michael McMahon

Michael credits his degree in business studies with finance from BU as giving him the platform to build a successful career in the financial world. 

Drew Miller Hyndman

After securing a place on the BBC's Extend in News scheme whilst still completing his degree, Drew has gone on to work for BBC Radio 4's Money Box, Panorama, and more recently BBC Ouch. 

James Mitchell

Having relocated to China after graduating, James is now Senior Copywriter for a leading consumer drone manufacturer, specialising in e-commerce writing.

Bukky Moemeke

After graduating from BU in 2015, Bukky joined media agency Wavemaker, before combining her love of sports and marketing as Marketing Manager at Premiership Rugby.

Ngan Nguyen

Since graduating, Ngan has returned to Vietnam to become a Senior Brand Executive at LUXASIA, the leading beauty omni-distribution platform of Asia Pacific.

Charley Packham

Charley has forged a career as a freelance producer, working across film, TV, promos, commercials, music videos and short films.

Alice Parlett

Alice has built her skills and career in a global context, firstly on a placement year in China and then with a move to Uganda to join AFRIpads. 

Sam Pollard-Jones

As Head of Events for Challenger Escapes, Sam specialises in creating live problem-solving experiences that support experiential marketing campaigns.

Brad Powell

Brad has combined education, professional training and voluntary experience to forge a successful career in psychology.

Phoebe Pullen

Phoebe works for BBC Studios, where she is responsible for programme management across the Learning and Development team.

Ben Redgell

In his five years at medical technology company BD, Ben has led the digital transformation of its UKI organisation.

Celia Rice

As the Creative Producer for BritBox International, Celia has steered large-scale campaigns for iconic British shows, including Line of Duty.

Amelia Schmidt

As an Account Manager at 90TEN, Amelia has helped to shape the agency's approach to influencer engagement for clients in the health sector.

Hannah Stevens

Hannah has used her degree in English to build a career in licensing, specialising in retail and sport. In 2020 she won the Licensing International Global Rising Star Award.

Ellie Townend

As a Nutritionist, Ellie trains staff on Food Information Regulations and allergen safety whilst overseeing allergen management across 200 schools.

Ollie Tunmore

Ollie has drawn on the skills – as well as the passions – he developed while at university to make a big impact in the communication and media sectors. 

Ashen Wickremaratchi

Ashen was attracted to join Innocent Drinks by the company's values. He now looks after the company's Quick Service Restaurant Channel, developing and executing strategy.

Daisy Wiggins

Daisy moved straight from undergraduate degree to a doctorate, undertaking one of the first Clinical Academic Doctorate Studentships at BU.

Elisabeth Wurzer

As Managing Associate at German Media Group, Hubert Burda Media, Elisabeth shapes staff communications and provides key support to the Executive board and company owners.
