Register before you graduate
Signing up to our alumni network before you finish your studies is the best way to stay connected. Recent changes to data protection regulations mean that we need your permission to keep in touch once you’ve left university. By signing up before you go, you can ensure that you receive alumni news, event invitations and details of exclusive benefits.
Register via our alumni details form, and we will add you to our database. We will get in touch to let you know that we’ve received your registration but won’t start sending you alumni communications until after you graduate.
The Graduate Outcomes survey is a national survey designed to find out how graduates’ careers are progressing once they have left university.
The survey is managed by the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) and it takes place 15 months after you’ve completed your studies with us.
Take part and have your voice heard
- The outcomes of the survey will help to shape BU’s courses and assist future students to make choices about their education
- The survey helps people, such as policymakers, to understand the higher education sector and the state of the graduate employment market
- The results of the survey influence graduate recruiters and impact student recruitment
What you need to do
The survey organiser, HESA, will ask us to provide them with contact details for you so that they can get in touch with you about the survey. Your email is the most important, but a phone number and address are also useful.
Please update your contact details via our online form.
When the survey happens
You will be surveyed 15 months after you have completed your studies, but you will begin to receive regular email prompts up until this time.
What you'll be asked
You'll be asked a number of questions relating to the activities you're involved in. These are predominantly about employment, but will also cover further study and training and your satisfaction with the outcome of your degree.
How your information will be used
There are details of how HESA will use the data from the survey on their website. They have also published a student collection notice tool which provides more guidance and on what it will be used for.
