Bournemouth University is committed to supporting the health (including mental health) and wellbeing of every member of the university community. As well as meeting the needs of children and vulnerable adults we consider safeguarding in its broadest term as covering the general welfare of our community. The Director of Student Services is responsible for the overall welfare and wellbeing of all students at the university

Most issues of concern can be supported by our general student welfare teams, and we have a wide range of support available to students. More information is available on our health and wellbeing webpages.

Issues that may fall directly under Safeguarding regulations, relating to children and/or vulnerable adults, should be reported to [email protected] so that these can be followed up appropriately. The Head of Student Support and Wellbeing is the University’s Designated Safeguarding Lead.

As well as our Safeguarding Policy (word, 89kb), Safeguarding Policy for Apprenticeships (word, 70kb) and Safeguarding Guidance for Apprentice Employers, (pdf, 131kb), the university has a number of general student welfare policies which can be found in the Conduct and Welfare Section on our Important information webpage. We also have the following webpages which provide information for specific safety concerns:

You can also watch the Dorset and BCP Safeguarding Adults Board video, which gives information about how to report any concerns:
