The BU and Santander Covid-19 Support Fund is intended to support students who are being financially impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. The fund is administered by Bournemouth University and is open to all enrolled students.
The purpose of the fund is to help students with a contribution towards costs for food, medicine and essential bills.
There are two types of award which can be made from this fund depending on your circumstance, as detailed below.
|BU and Santander Covid-19 Support Fund|
|Student without dependant children||Up to £100*|
|Student with one or more dependant children||Up to £200*|
*Please note: updated funding amount applies from 19 May 2020.
The fund cannot assist with rent/mortgage payments. Please note that, tenants are currently being protected, as outlined by government announcements. If you have any concerns about your legal obligations regarding paying your rent or mortgage, then please contact SUBU Advice.
Awards from the fund will be made on a first-come, first-served basis to those meeting the eligibility criteria.
Students can only make one application to the fund. If you have already received an award from the fund and require financial assistance for food, please contact SUBU Advice who may be able to offer a food voucher. You will need to demonstrate you have no money available to you.
How to apply
Visit MyCareerHub to find out more about who can apply for this support and to complete the online form. Please note: it may take up to 10 working days to assess your application depending on the number of applications received.
If your financial situation is more complex, then you may wish to apply for the BU Financial Support Fund instead. Students applying for the BU Financial Support Fund will need to demonstrate their income does not cover their essential expenditure over the entire academic year. This fund can assist with a contribution towards essential course books and equipment where a student can demonstrate a financial need.
