Since graduating from BU, Harvey has embarked on a career journey driven by his passion for sustainability in the coffee industry.

Harvey started as a Quality Control Specialist for Mercanta Coffee, before transitioning to marketing and traceability. It was here that he utilised his understanding of sustainable practices to promote responsible sourcing.

Harvey then joined Sheba Coffee, a startup focused on rebuilding the Yemen coffee industry, as a Sales & Marketing Officer. Sheba’s work includes supporting farmers who would otherwise be unable to access the global market. In this role, Harvey has applied his expertise to make a meaningful impact. After nearly two years, he has been promoted to General Manager, overseeing teams in the UK, Ethiopia and Dubai. This has allowed him to lead diverse teams and promote sustainable practices across multiple regions.

Harvey says: “My degree helped to shape my career, especially when I landed my first job with a company I had interviewed with during my dissertation. If you have an idea of where you want to focus after university, using your final year project to explore the industry and speak with potential employers can be a great opportunity.”
