The BU Falcons are nationally ranked as one of the top University Cheerleading programmes in the country after holding a National & Grand Championship Title. We have five different teams and over 80 athletes meaning there is something for everyone! We were recognised as a SUBU 5* star society, making us one of the best clubs to be part of. You don't need to have any experience to try out, just a great attitude and willingness to learn!

We are proud to be part of the fastest-growing sport in the UK, offering teams that are both exciting and challenging for all levels of experience. Our student coaching programme also provides an opportunity for those with previous experience to be guided into coaching roles throughout their time at university. Links to the local Allstar programme, Bournemouth Elite, provides support to our student coaches as well as access to training facilities and opportunities for members to cross over to an Allstar team.

Outside of training, there is plenty to get involved in to enhance your student experience. Community outreach, volunteering, fundraising, pizza parties, movie nights, and weekly Wednesday night socials are just some of the activities you can look forward to with the Falcons. We provide a supportive team environment to foster incredible friendships and a buddy system between new members, and our returners to look out for newcomers while they settle into the team and university life.

When and where?

We currently train across three venues, the Student Hall (Talbot Campus), Sir David English Sports Centre (Charminster), and Oak Academy (Bournemouth Elite). Our competitive Cheer teams train on a full nine-panel sprung floor and have access to various gymnastic equipment. We also organise visits to local gymnastic facilities and open gyms where athletes are able to develop their skills further.

How can you get involved?

We run taster sessions at the start of each academic year where we welcome everyone to come and give Cheerleading, Pom & Hip Hop a go! More info on this can be found on our Instagram page @bufalcons. We encourage anyone planning on trying out to also come to a taster session as they are a great chance to meet the team and learn the try out material. All events will be in line with SportCheerEngland & Government Covid-19 Guidance.

To represent BU Falcons you must go through our try-out process. Follow us on Instagram (@bufalcons) for the most up-to-date information!
