SportBU is proud to be an approved centre for a range of Active IQ Fitness Qualifications, designed to turn your passion for health and fitness into a long term career by developing competent fitness professionals.

Whether you’ve played American football before or are new to the sport, BU Bobcats welcomes all abilities.

Opportunities for all levels for everyone, from competing in BUCS leagues, to more casual opportunities to play for staff and students.

The BU Falcons have been ranked as one of the top University Cheerleading programs in the country, after earning their National and Grand Championship titles in 2022. 

If you’re a talented cricket player and keen to represent BU at a competitive level, we have men’s and women’s teams who compete in British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) leagues. Alternatively, you can join our Social Kwik Cricket Club on Sundays.

Whether you just enjoy having a kickabout with friends or you’re a budding professional footballer keen to represent BU in the sport, we’ve got a range of football opportunities for everyone.

​Over recent years, futsal has become an increasingly popular sport in England, including among university students. With similarities to 5-a-side football, it’s mainly played indoors on a hard court with a smaller, low-bounce ball and is a fast-paced, exciting sport.

If you have a talent and flair for playing golf, TeamBU Golf (our community of aspiring golf players) offers lots of opportunities to develop and progress.

Whether you play hockey casually or for a club at local, regional or national level, TeamBU Hockey welcomes talented male and female players who are keen to progress in their sport.

Whether you’re a karate novice or you’ve practised karate before, this course is suitable for all levels. 

If you're a gifted lacrosse player and are keen to represent BU in your sport, TeamBU Lacrosse (our group of Performance Sport lacrosse players) will help you reach the next level.

From competitive netball to playing as part of a club or just for fun, we’ve got loads of opportunities to get involved.

We are open to anyone who wants be part of a fun, sociable and supportive team.

If you’re keen to swim while you study with us, BU Swimming Club includes opportunities for students of all abilities to get involved.
